At 7:42 a.m. we had a small earthquake (preliminary magnitude 3.6) with the epicenter about 9 miles from our home. Ms. S.R. Era and I were drinking coffee in the living room when the whole house shook and creaked a little bit (it is on a concrete slab). Shaking lasted about 2 seconds; it was interesting to actually hear the S-waves rumbling off into the the distance for a few seconds after the shaking stopped.

Mmm - we've have lots of little tremors here, too. Normally the house shakes for 3 to 5 seconds - once, as we are on steel stilts, I actually heard rattling. Hope you didn't spill any coffee!!

No spills. TV news showed some homes with cracked sheetrock and similar minor damage. There were reports of a couple of people being injured by falling - they must have been unsteady on their feet to start with, it did not seem that bad.
