Slurry eductor - design guide? 3

I want to design an eductor system to entrain solids from a hopper into liquid pipeline - require constant solids concentration (in order 10% w/w) in the slurry. Can anyone suggest a resource or reference that would give me design rules for this type of application?

Most of the slurry systems I have encountered involve mixing of the solids in a tank and pumping form there. The process cound be batch or continuous.

The tank is, of course, continuously agitated to ensure consistency.

IMHO, To try to develop an "on the fly" eductor based slurry mixing system would be a first...

Some wet bottom ash systems on coal fired boilers used water driven eductors that handled some nasty solids from clinkers that came from the furnace. Google these two brand names; Allen-Sherman-Hoff and United Conveyor. See what they have to offer or what they use.

In the case of the bottom ash the lids are wet an have usually been through a cusher so the solids ae generally granular in form and are handled well by eductors.

In the case of a reactive material such as lime I suspect you will encounter many difficulties in the operation.

If the 10% w/w is a critical process parameter then the eductor may not be the best choice.
