Slip Ring Technology

Can somebody please suggest sources of information (web sites, books, etc) for slip ring technology used in rotary applications like robotic (welding turntables), windmills, etc.

What sort of application is it. ie how much power do you need to transfer, is it AC or DC, what voltage & bandwidth isrequired and at what sort of RPM.
Is it a one off application or are significant quantities
involved. There are alternatives to conventional slip ring
solutions but they are application specific.
