I was digging through some files for an antiquated structural system, and it took me back to the legendary slideruleera.net. I would hazard a guess that I am one of the younger engineers on here, so I only managed to catch the last few years of its existence, but I think slideruleera.net is a missed resource. You can tell what an impact it had on this forum by how many posts over the decade(s) have pointed people over there. This latest stint of research had me thinking that someone needs to make a replacement to slideruleera.net. And since no one else seems to have done it yet, it might as well be me.

Unfortunately, the domain name has been registered by someone else, so I was just thinking of calling the website something like antiquatedstructure.net. The goal would be to keep the layout the same, upload new additions as others find them/supply them, and just make sure that the hosting get covered year to year. I've managed to pull what I can from the archived version of slideruleera.net, and I have a few additional documents that I've run across over the years. Hopefully that will allow an archive of these products to get off the ground again and be a little more wieldy than the Building Heritage Library (which is wonderful if you know what you're looking for).

I'm looking for some feedback since this community used that resource the most. Now that we're a few months (a year?) out from the end of slideruleera.net, do you feel it's a missed resource? Is there anything you'd like to see differently? I just wanted to get a feel for these groups thoughts before spending the money on a domain and all that stuff.

On a side note, the link rot we have in this community is a huge bummer. Structure mag changed the way their articles link, so between slideruleera going down and that, there is a fair amount of information that has gotten lost.

I have, and that's how I access the website. But not every document is captured and the fact that it is now a static website is a bit sad. It would be nice to keep expanding the resources we have, I think. But that's why I'm asking for input. If others don't think it's necessary, then fair enough.

I see! Clearly, I am missing something as I don't see a page 5 or any discussion, but I will have to figure out why that is. I'll keep looking for it. Thanks!
