I usually am designing the shell building and not part of the upfit after the shell is complete. But for this particular project, the upfit had a partial mezzanine (which has since been VE'd). What do you guys do at the edge of the adjacent tenant space?

Slab is just a typical 4" slab. Do you normally turn down the slab? I am inclined to just out of habit, etc. but crushed stone should be spec'd up to the slab and the partition wall above is just carrying its self weight.

Thoughts? Am I over thinking this?

I take "upfit" in your vernacular to mean "build out" in mine.

There's usually a wall between tenant spaces, so yes I would turn down or thicken the slab. Another thing to consider: a 4 inch slab is quite thin if you need to dowel into it later to prevent differential settlement across the construction joint. Most 4" SOGs have thickened CJs for that very reason.
