Hi,

I am designing a residential slab on grade using the WRI methodolgy. The slab will be supported on expansive soils. In the load calculation, we need to consider all distributed and point loads. Based on that avergae load, we design slab and beams. If there are any point loads acting between the beams, do we need to design square footings for those conditions. I couldn't find about this in BRAB report or WRI report. Can somebody help on this issue.

Thanks

It depends on the magnitude of the load. If the slab can support it, there's no need for a footing. The first thing I would check the slab for is punching shear.
