Hi All-

I'm in the middle of starting my own business. I actually have three clients, and I'm having trouble keeping up with the work load. I'm starting to mess around with the notion of contracting a mechanical designer to help me out. It would be an "odd" arrangement (meaning that I don't know if I could pay him full-time yet), so I'm looking for a semi-retired designer. I know there was a site that TheTick mentioned in another thread, but I was wondering if there are any other sites that would lend themselves to this type of arrangement. I've tried to hire all the old blokes that I've worked with in the past, but they've all completely retired.

Thanks in advance, and if I'm not explaining this well enough, let me know.

What sort of stuff are you in need of a designer for? I am sure there are people here who could help.

Alternatively, I have looked into in the past regarding small project contract work. You might be able find someone up there... develop a relationship with that contractor and send work to him on an occasional basis.

I'm in the medical device industry. Spinal surgical instruments (will probably be branching out to different parts of the medical device industry in the near future). Only mechanical components (right now).

vc66, you didn't think to email me;-) So have you already jumped ship or just planning on it?

We've had some experienced contract checkers from Butler at our sight, don't know what they have our your way.

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

Didn't jump ship yet, but I'm definitely planning on it. The only thing keeping me here is the benefits.

Funny thing, I actually thought about you, but I wasn't sure how to work the coast to coast thing!

You can contact us for help. We would be glad to work something out. I have a lot of free time on my hands, and we run Solid Works.
