Hi All,

I have a building with only ground floor with area 180m X 24m and the building is unsprinklered building. I am performing hydraulic calculations. I am thinking to perform as horizontal standpipe system as I need three fire hose cabinets for the building. I believe it is okay to use horizontal standpipe system, just want to make sure. I am new to fire protection engineering. Any suggestions would help.

You need to start by determining what is required based on the building code, local amendments and AHJs direction. For Class I standpipe hose connections on horizontal exits refer to NFPA 14-2019 7.3.2.2.1 and IFC-2018 905.4. There's a lot more to it but that will get you started.

Where is the project location and what codes/standards are you following?
