Hi,
What is difference among MOTION SIMULATION, DESIGN SIMULATION AND ADVANCED SIMULATION?
Which one (the easiest) should I start to learn with?
The "SIMULATION" term in NX is identical cu KINEMATICS one?

Thanks

P.S. I would strongly appreciate from you a simple part file with a simulation sample.

Hello!:
• NX MOTION:
Motion Simulation is an integrated, associative CAE tool that provides comprehensive mechanism modeling and multybody kynematics & dynamics analysis capabilities. You can use Motion Simulation to simulate and evaluate mechanical systems for such things as:
• Displacements, velocities, and accelerations of bodies.
• Range of motion.
• Reaction forces, inertia forces and torques, and forces and moments transmitted between bodies.
• Capture of loads for finite element modeling.
• Lock-up positions.
• Interference.

• NX DESIGN SIMULATION:

Design Simulation is a CAE application specifically tailored for the needs of design engineers who need basic CAE tools to perform initial validation studies of their design. Design Simulation allows users to perform a basic, geometry-only analysis of a solid body component or an assembly. For example, this basic validation can provide design engineers with an understanding of potential areas of structural or thermal stress in their model early in the design process.
Design Simulation provides a set of targeted pre- and post-processing tools and is fully integrated with a streamlined version of the NX Nastran solver. You can use Design Simulation to perform the following types of analyses:
• Linear statics
• Vibration (normal) modes
• Linear buckling
• Thermal
You can also use Design Simulation to perform the following types of solution processes:
• Adaptivity
• Durability
• Optimization
The user interface throughout Design Simulation is streamlined and simplified to assist users who may not routinely perform CAE analysis or who may not be familiar with NX Nastran bulk data terminology.

• NX ADVANCED SIMULATION
NX Advanced Simulation is a comprehensive finite element modeling and results visualization product that is designed to meet the needs of experienced analysts. Advanced Simulation includes a full suite of pre-and post-processing tools and supports a broad range of product performance evaluation solutions.
Advanced Simulation provides seamless, transparent support for a number of industry-standard solvers, such as NX Nastran, MSC Nastran, Samcef, ANSYS, and Abaqus. For example, when you create either a mesh or a solution in Advanced Simulation, you specify the solver you plan to use to solve your model and the type of analysis you want to perform. The software then presents all meshing, boundary conditions, and solution options using the terminology or “language” of that solver and analysis type. Additionally, you can solve your model and view your results directly in Advanced Simulation without having to first export a solver file or import your results.

NX Advanced Simulation provides all the functionality available in NX DESIGN SIMULATION, plus numerous additional features that support advanced analysis processes.
• Advanced Simulation features data structures, such as the separate Simulation and FEM files, that help facilitate the development of FE models across a distributed work environment. These data structures also allow analysts to easily share FE data to perform multiple types of analyses.
• Advanced Simulation offers world class meshing capabilities. The software is designed to produce a very high quality mesh while using an economic element count. Advanced Simulation supports a complete complement of element types (0D, 1D, 2D, and 3D). Additionally, Advanced Simulation gives analysts control over specific meshing tolerances which control, for example, how the software meshes complex geometry, such as fillets.
• Advanced Simulation includes a number of geometry abstraction tools that give analysts the ability to tailor the CAD geometry to the needs of their analysis. For example, analysts can use these tools to improve the overall quality of their mesh by eliminating problematic geometry, such as tiny edges.
• Advanced Simulation offers a fully coupled thermal-structural Multiphysics capability, in which the results of a thermal analysis affect the structural analysis, and vice versa.

One more question:
I am designer, not an engineer.
Which of these three tools could be categorized as a regular assignment for a designer?

MZ7DYJ

mz7dyj,

Some module in NX (such as Mach3 Product Design) does contain CAE Stress Wizards (you can do CAE in just several steps), using the same Nastran Solver, but with much less control. Probably designer can start with those...
