I've heard in the past and actually read on this forum that Ontario's code allows 1/3 the width of a sill plate to overhang the foundation wall without analysis.

Does anyone have a code reference for this?

From OBC 2012:

9.23.11.2. Bottom Wall Plates
(1) A bottom wall plate shall be provided in all cases.
(2) The bottom plate in exterior walls shall not project
more than one-third the plate width over the support

They're talking about the bottom plate... would also seem applicable to sill, but, could find no reference.

Thanks Dik. Was looking in the "sill plate" section.
