I am trying to talk to a siemens PLC (CPU315)using TCPIP sockets. This method works for telemechanique and modicon PLCs but i am having difficulty in connecting to a siemens CP-343. I can ping the PLC but a connect does not work.
I believe that the PLC will support TCP Native and UDP protocols, but I have limited knowledge of Step 7. I may have a configuration problem, does anyone have any clues ?

Use the INAT VCOM program.
VCOM is a program that runs in the background and redirects the data addressed to your serial port to the Ethernet card.
You can download the VCOM program from and test it. It is easy to configure and you then can use your normal programs such as Step7 with the serial port.
Try it.
