Where can I learn how to do a short circuit calculation? I need to select the short circuit protection rating for entrance equipment for a single family home 230V/1PH/200 amp service. How do i figure this out?

website Links/tutorials would be great. Thank you.

10kA. Utilities go to great length to make that value true.

Look at faq238-1287 for lots of good resources. The Red Book, the Buff Book, and the Conrad St. Pierre book might be the best first places to start.

If possible, the small branches MCBs should have short-circuit rated at 5kA to get a good coordination. Then some main lines rates at 10kA as Steve's.
