I'm trying to create a weldment made up of several cut sheet metal stampings then mig-welded together. Is there a way to build a sheet metal weldment within a .sldprt environment? It appears SW only allows one sheet metal profile within a part file. Im trying to avoid creating multiple part files and combining it in a .sldasm file.

I use the weldment features all the time, but this is the first time I’ve come across a sheet metal issue.

Im using sw06 sp3

thx,
pj

Is there a reason for avoiding creating the assembly?

I have found it is usually much easier to create the assembly file than to avoid it.

No reason. But i'd like to take advantage of the Weldment feature and have just one file for an assembly. Plus it gives me a Cut-list and other features.

You can do an "Insert Part" in your weldment and insert the sheetmetal part into your weldment part. And now with swx2006, the Move/Copy body command has mate options which should make positioning the sheetmetal part fairly easy.
