I'M TRYING TO USE THE SOLIDEDGE SHEET METAL FUNCTION TO CREATE A SQUARE TO ROUND TRANSITION IN SHEET METAL FROM A 257mm DIA PIPE TO A 330 X 174 RECTANGLE PIPE. I WANT THE WELDMENT TO BE IN 4 QUADRANTS WITH THE SEAMS MEETING THE CORNERS OF THE RECTANGLE OPENING.
SOLIDEGDE LETS ME MODEL IT BUT DOESNT LET ME FLATTEN IT FOR THE PROFILE.
CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE?

Can you send me a picture of your model because I'm not sure I understand exacty what you whant with the weldment, then I will model it for you as an example.

The method you are using creates a distorted surface, which is why it can't be flattened.
Try this method -

1. Create a sketch of 1 quadrant of the circle from 0-90deg. (ie from horizontal axis to vertical axis.
2. Create a sketch of the part of the rectangle in the same quadrant. (ie half the top face and half the side face)
3. Create a lofted flange between the two.

You should now have 1/4 of your transition - and it should flatten.

You will notice that the circular section blends out to the corner and a triangular face forming the sides.
The joint line will be on the flat faces.
