I have an elliptical piece of sheet metal. To that ellipse I need to add a flange. The flange angle needs to vary by about 5 degrees as it sweeps around the ellipse.

I can model this, however I cannot flatten or unbend it.

I tried doing a constant angle flange using the flange command and that unbends fine.

I'm guessing that it isn't working because the variable flange angle was constructed by conventional means and not a sheet metal command.

Is there a way to create a variable angle flange using one of the sheet metal tools?

Thanks,
Glenn

The sheet metal module is designed for straight bending operations.

Creo can flatten such things, but forming them requires stretching of the metal so any flat pattern is just a guess.

Practical use of such features has the part blank created oversized and the flanges trimmed after forming, or tweaking of the forming process.
