Dear Folks;

I have created a custom sheet format using my clients autocad title block. The necessary slddrt and slddot files were created and place in the C:/solidworks data and template folders.

Now the template works fine for a single sheet but as soon as I add a second sheet it dissapears. Doesnt matter if I right click properties and select the custom border from the list, I t will not display.

Anyone know what I might have done incorrectly ?

Best Regards

Are you saying that the sheet format on sheet 1 disappears or that they sheet format on sheet 2 is different? If yoou go to Properties of sheet 2 and choose Browse you should be able to find your template wherever you stored it. If you can't see it, pick Reload and maybe that will clear up your issue.

First I took the Autocad drawing and made sure the border was actual size.
I opened solidworks and opened a blank drawing and set the sheet size.
Then I clicked edit sheet format cut and pasted the drawing into a blank solidworks border.
I set my drawing options to the required fonts and dimension style
Then I saved the slddrt and slddot files so I could use the template repeatedly.

Hi

I was able to fix the problem by cutting and pasting the autocad border into the second sheet. But still cant get solidworks to add the second sheet like its supposed to.

The strange thing is the preview screen shows the drawing border, it just wont load it.

Also, I noticed a block in the original autocad drawing that contained the contract number. When inserted into my solidworks drawing I noticed a tiny dot that does not appear in autocad. I zoomed in and found the text:

"WHO LUVS YA BABY"

Adrian,
I can tell you that Solidworks has a bug when adding sheets or even replacing sheets. I have all templates and sheet formats loaded on the network, and file pathed to them as well. When I add or replace a template or sheet format, it seems to default back to the standard SW sheet formats. I know you folks are going to say that "did you check all your correct file paths in the file locations in tools, options", but everything is correct. This is a know bug with SW, and they said it was fixed, but it's not.

This might be part of your problem.

FYI, I would upgrade from SP0 to a later service pack. Just my opinion...

Have a good day.

No

I tried editing sheet properties and reloading from both "edit sheet" and "edit sheet format" and the border wont load

If I "edit sheet format" I can copy and paste the border in from Autocad manually and it snaps into position fine.

Solidworks remembers the sheet size and 0,0 position. Just cant rmb sheet properties to give me my second sheet.

Adrian,
I have exactly the same issue.
sheet 2 will not display the sheet format that I made for it.
It will not display the sheet format for sheet 1 either
It will however display other sheet formats such as the SW standard sheets or another one that I made from scratch.
I can use the sheet 2 format on sheet 1 ok
The RMB edit sheet format on/off makes no difference.
I don't see the solution in any of the answers supplied so far.
very frustrating
can anyone help ?
thanks

This might be redundant, but I want to second the bug comment.

I remember having the same problem several months ago and then I upgraded to the latest service pack in 07 (3.1 I think at that time) and it fixed it.

I changed companies since then and they were back to using SW07 0.0 and I encountered the same problem again. However, this time I upgraded to 08...

I know I tried several things to band-aid the problem, but it was more trouble than it was worth...
