Good day all,

I'm a Subsea Engineering postgrad. I am doing a project and i am suffering at designing topside FPSO layout. I have of course researched the refining method and know how oil processing works but i do not know the layout of it nor any basic dimensions (i do not have time nor the resources to design vessel sizes). It is based on the Sevan 1000 FPSO, the Goliat design and is ~100m in diameter (circular FPSO) and production is 100,000 BOPD. There is a winterization which will contain the processing units.

If anyone has any good links/advice on the issues stated it would be much appreciated, i have had no experience in industry and i feel like a fish out of water!

Thanks,

Alex

Have you started with appropriate standards, e.g. classification society requirements? The attachment may be of some small use.

Thank you for the link Steve, it seems very useful. I am beginning to think the task i set myself may have been unsurmountable at this stage. I'm sure the design layout would be very complex to design, having a lot of intermediate pieces of machinery i do not know about. Furthermore all i'm finding are basic 3D models of the winterization, with cross sections only showing unnamed snippets of machinery.

I really appreciate the document which will help me design a basic topside layout, i'll probably keep it simple.
