Hello,

The engineering group that I am in has just purchased a new CAD system. Over the past years each person in the group has developed their own little ways of drawing, so now all of our drawings look somewhat different. I see the new system as a perfect opportunity to standardize our format (ie. line weights, fonts...) but don't really know where to begin. Please point me in the right direction.

thanks...

Set up standard drawing format templates. Also everyone should be following standard drafting practices, ie MIL-STD-100, ASME & ANSI, etc.

What CAd system do you have? Each has their own metod for setting up company wide standards.

I have experience with UG and Pro/E where we have have 50+ workstations all using the same set of standard formats and default settings.

If you are using Microstation and are doing work for a D.O.T. if you go to thier respective web sites you will find thier standards already for set-up and download.
