14m wide modified Horse Shoe Tunnel is being constructed in RMR Class V rock. Rock Overburden is around 30m. We have proposed SDA bolts of 32mm dia, 8m long @1.5m c/c in systematic pattern. Contractor is 1st installing steel sections as rigid ribs and encasing the ribs in shotcrete. Further they are drilling rock bolts between the ribs. Will Rock bolt carry any load or the purpose of rock bolt installation is being solved?
