Dear All,

Do equipment manufacturers encounter seismic criteria during their design process? On the other hand, does a same compressor send to Japon with high earhtquake probability comparing those send to European countries with less probability?

What kind of equipment? Where will it be used?

Please see FAQ731-376 for great suggestions on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips Fora. See faq158-922 for recommendations regarding the question, "How Do You Evaluate Fill Settlement Beneath Structures?"

typically, the manufacturer would consider it only if the client specified / requested it. Unless this is a major piece of equipment, it is probably left up to the design engineer.

hi there!

I agree with "cvg", the problem can be put in terms of seismic isolation. When somoeone buys a specific equipement the structural engineer/designer must design a bearing for the structure that can isolate/resist the action induced on the equipement due to a seismic action.
