In dealing with differential displacements of a primary structure and the attachements of some secondary structure is it reasonable to design the anchorage for the displacement between the attachement points or should the whole secondary structure be analyzed as some beam over continous supports. I suppose the simplest analogy would be a ladder mounted vertically along the side of a tank or tower. The situation I have is slightly more comlex with multiple sections, bolted together.
