Hello,

I have a big assembly file which has multiple sub assemblies and all the data is in single folder .here i need to segregate(seperate) sub assemblies with their children in separate respective folders so as to give other departments the required subassembly folder without breaking the link.
This i am doing by identifying the subassembly and children by opening main assembly in NX and then looking in the data in the folder and copy pasting in a seperate folder.but takes lot of time and there is a chance that i may miss any of the children or take any extra part which is not children.
In catia , we do it by either save management or the Send to directory.. is there any method in UG NX also????
I am using NX8
Please help.
Thx

Someone could write a journal using the 'ugpc.exe' utility. You will find this in the UGII folder. If you call 'ugpc' giving it the name of an Assembly, it will return a list of all of the components in that Assembly. You can learn some of the uses of 'ugpc' by searching for it in the NX Help files. Also, if you execute 'ugpc.exe' in a command line window with the -h option, you'll get a list of the optional switches and their formats.

There is also an NX Open program that has been developed which you can install as part of NX which will let you create a .zip file, collecting together the Assembly and all of it's components. When you run the program you can either enter the name of an Assembly or you can select an option which will zip-up the current Work Part.

Attached is a file which after you download it, edit the file extention from '.zipper' to '.zip' and extract the files. There are two sets of files, one for use with 32-bit versions of NX and the other for 64-bit versions (obviously for NX 9.0 you can only use the 64-bit version). There is also a Word document explaining how to install and use the program. If you follow these instructions it will automatically add this option to the File pull-down menu when running NX using the 'Classic toobars' UI. For running wth NX 9.0 and the ribbon interface, still do what the documents says, just we'll have to create the equivalent of a new .men file (as soon as I get that I'll post it) but for now you can just use Customize to add a 'User Command' to the Ribbon UI 'File' item, setting it to execute the 'ugzipc_win64.dll' in your 'application' folder (as explained in the Word document).

Anyway, this might be a good solution for your situation.
