I'm looking to precipitate several heavy metal impurities out of a copper sulphate solution through a series of pH adjustments. The problem is that my copper concentration is a too high to make this process feasible.

Currently, I have 105 g/L of copper in my mother liquor, and I'd like to drop this concentration significantly before I send my solution through the staged precipitation process. I'm looking to crystallize the copper through the addition of copper sulphate (seed crystallization). Which brings me to my next problem: I am no crystallization expert.

Does anyone know what quantity/size of seed crystal (copper sulphate) will be necessary? What is a feasible final concentration? Lastly, what's the best piece of equipment for this kind of operation?

Mother liquor conditions:
pH 1 (contains free sulfuric acid)
Temp = 90C
Flowing ~ 20 cum/day
