What type of pile are we talking about here?

Standard practice for drilled micropiles (also called bored-in piles by NYSDOT) is to use flush joint threaded mill secondary steel casing. Material certifications are not available for this type of material, so some agencies require random coupon sampling.

And, yes - the 2007 NY State Building Code does recognize micropiles.

If I may add: Secondary pipe are oil industry rejects, i.e. pipes that don't quite meet API specs.

The piles are 10 3/4" diameter, and should be if not API rejects, ASTM A252, as per IBC.
