I have an owner saying there is an ACI code requirement to seal an elevated slab on metal deck inside of a building. Is anyone aware of this requirement?

I cant find it anywhere, and I dont see why this would be a requirement, since the building will be enclosed, and we will have carpet.

There is no code requirement to seal the concrete.

ACI does recommend curing (all times) and does have articles in various ACI publications that discuss sealing and curing. But in ACI 318, there is nothing on sealing.

That's what I thought. I think he is thinking of using a curing/sealer application, but, again, there are other ways to cure the slab.

Perhaps he was thinking of a floor hardener or coating the floor with a sealer after it's cured.

I've worked on a few waste transfer stations and these facilities coat the floor to protect the concrete.
