sealing across a knit line

We have a product that has a number of knit lines across the face seals (oring) on the finished assembly that are causing sporadic leaks. The consistency of the knit lines varies from part to part and due to the fact they are in a recessed part of the finished part their breath and depth are difficult to measure in process. We are looking at methods to reduce their size via tooling changes and machining but I also wanted to investigate alternative methods of filling the knit lines or applying a different type of seal to account for the surface variation. Currently we are using a shore A 50 and 70 durometer, 100 and 200 series orings for these seals that are well lubed prior to assembly.
