Sealant for Glycol Dry Break connections

Hi there, new member here so pardon me if this isn't the correct forum for my questions. I am fitting dry break connections onto mobile vessels and utility panels and am wondering what is the best type of sealant to use ? I've been recommended threaded paste (no specfic manufacture) and also been told not to use PTFE !! Is there any truth in this ?
