Hi! A new water well will be drilled and for the constant rate test we will discharge 1500-1800 gpm for 24 hours. We have a concrete rectangle channel which leads to a 12" diam AC drain line. I have the following information:

Concrete Channel
S= 0.005
Width = 24"
Height = 32"
n = 0.012

12" AC drain
S=0.05
n = 0.011

Using Manning's Eq. Q = 37.6 cfs, R = 0.73 for concrete channel and Q = 9.5 cfs for 12" drain where R = 0.25.

I think I have all the information I need to determine if the channel and drain line can handle the capacity but I am not exactly sure how to approach it. Can someone please help me?

The FULL capacity of the channel is 37.8 cfs and 9.4 for the pipe using Manning's.

1800gpm x 1cf/7.48g x 1m/60s = 4.01 cfs flow for the well.

The flow depth for the GIVEN FLOW is 0.48 ft. in the channel and 0.46 ft. in the pipe using Manning's (both below capacity as you indicated).

I wasnt sure if it was that easy. Thank you for your reply.
