Screw Compressor OIL

What viscocity for oil would be required for a propane refrigeration system. We have 2 2500HP, and 1 300HP Howden Compressors packaged by Toromont. The refrigeration propane charge is less 1% ethane, bone dry -40. We are experiencing problems on the 300HP Compressor. It is requiring 2 oil pumps instead of the desigh, which is one pump. The compressor appears to be taking in more oil than design. We pulled the compressor and inspected and found no indication of any clearence issues.

We are now questioning the viscocity of the oil. Can someone help?

is the oil your are using being "diluted" with the propane? a synthetic oil is typically used to keep the oil from being thinned out by the propane.

Yes, mixes and seperates in the lube oil seperator. Attached is the MSDS for the oil.

we use summit ngp100 in the screws for refrig and ngp150 for field compression
