Scaling a model

Is it possible to scale an entire model, instead of changing all of the individual dimensions?

Did you try the help file and search for scaling? It's been a while since I used SolidWorks and I don't know what version you are on, but there may be a scaling feature. I vaguely remember one, but I might be thinking of another CAD system.

Why do you want to scale? It's not really a good practice to do so.

Scott is right! Scaling a model defeats the purpose of making models, and it is bad practice. Because when making models (even when using AutoCAD) you want true 1:1 size and shape not a scaled size and shape.

But....if you still insist on scaling your model. There is an icon on the feature toolbar that should scale your model from the origin or centroid (one other option but it escapes me right now ). Pick the Document name and then put in the amount you choose to scale it at and you have now scaled your model.

If you can't find the icon go to customize of your toolbars and there you should find the icon. Simply drag and drop the icon to the tollbar of your desire.

I agree that this would not be a good practice and would never consider it on one of my designs. I was just considering it for a model that I merely need a representation of. I had looked in the help file but I had searched for scale and did not find the scaling feature.

I use scale all the time when designing molds. I have never used it for an assembly. I guess you could scale each part and adjust the mates as required.
