I'm attempting to dual qualify our welding operators to ASME AND AWS Tandem SAW. I have an ASME weld procedure but my AWS weld procedure is limited. My AWS weld procedure includes the GMAW process for the root and first fill pass, then the rest is tandem SAW. Can I use this AWS SAW weld procedure for welding the test coupon to SAW only or does the weld have to include the GMAW process because it's on the procedure?
