SAW vs EFW Process

Dear All,

As the title suggests, I want to use SAW process instead of EFW process for fabrication of 2000 NB pipes. The design pressure is 1.01 bar (g) and the design temperature is 80 degrees centigrade.

Class 1 will be used (100% RT).

Can this substitution of welding process be made? I cannot find references anywhere online.

What is your specification?
It should tell you what is allowed.

Yeah you can use SAW instead of EFW for low-pressure stuff like this, especially if you're doing 100% RT. But like Ed said, gotta check your spec some codes are picky about welded seam types for pressure pipe. What code are you working to? ASME B31.3 or something else?
