SAVE AS PDF

This occasionally happens... but I can get it to work by closing all other applications & trying again... or rebooting & trying again... etc.

This time, I tried all my "tricks" & nothing works. I have a drawing file - 2 sheets - that I want to save as a PDF. I can't get sheet 2 to print. All I get are item bubbles & dimensions... no pretty pictures. I even tried outputting only sheet 2 & got the same result. Now, I'm completely stumped.

What's the dang deal on this?

You stated this happens when you "save as" *.pdf. Have you tried printing to a *.pdf document?

Did you try right-clicking?

Do you have a different sheet format for the second sheet? Is there something different about it?

Does this happen with other drawings and drawing sheets (3,4,5 etc)?

Have you tried deleting sheet 1 and then print/save-as PDF?

Have you tried a repair? (by CD/DVD or registry)

I echo Heckler. Print to PDF has always worked better for me.

Is that an add-in?
I know there is freeware "out there" that will do it.
Is that what you're using?
Which should I get?

You may already have a PDF printer installed via SW or Adobe. If not, you can try any of these

I currently use pdf995 from

but prefer the Adobe Acrobat Pro one.

Any of the first four listed are good.

You mentioned that dimensions and bubbles are printing but not model geometry...check to see that the "Convert Draft Quality Drawing Views to High Quality" box is checked in the print dialog or try reducing the print quality to something like 300 dpi.

I just had my eyes checked yesterday and found out they've degraded to 20/20 in one eye and 20/16 in the other. Anyways, I second the recommendation to upgrade to the lastest SP4. Also, make sure you've got the SW certified video driver for your video card. It's odd just about much that alone affects.

As a test, try copying one of the good views on your first sheet onto the second sheet to see if the results are different.

I also recommend contacting your VAR if not of the suggestions here work.

Side note, I'm amazed at the variety of questions asked under "Save as PDF" titled postings!

I'm surprised that no-one has hit on this fact. I have the same problems once in awhile. I believe it is actually due to the fact that your file size is either maxing out your printer que, or just the fact that due to the size it is timing out. Basically what you need to do is exit out of the drawing and model and run the "Unfrag.exe"

I am a former "Pro-e" user and probably my #1 compaint about SW is its HUGE file sizes due to the fact that it doesn't seem to compress anything.

I'm a 2001 Pro/E user and my biggest complaint is its lack of support for creation of pdf files. If it wasn't for 995pdf I would be lost when using Pro/E.

There has been a lot of talk about the "Unfrag.exe" utility and I think the consensus is not to use because it corrupts your files. read thread559-87953
