HI

i have a question
You are cocommunicating between two satellites, the transmission obeys athe free space law. The signal is two week , your vendor offers you two options : The vendor can use a higher frequency that is twice the current frequency or can double the effective area of both of the antennas.
Which will offer you more recieved power or both will offer the same improvment, and how much improvment in the recieved power do you obtain from the best option?

Higher freqency increases the parabolic antenna's effective size proportionally. <nbucska@pcperipherals.com>

Better to double the effective area of both of the antennas, this will provide you more power and less uplink power to your uplink terminals because the gain of your antenna increases with size directly. With respect to frequency, the path loss between the earth station and satellite will greatly increased.
