Hi

I know that Satellite cable is RG-6, my question is? Does cable tv RG-59 work on Satellites, the cables do look a like. Is the resistance equal?

Would like to know if I have to re-wire the whole house.

Joe

RG-6 and RG-59 are of the same application; they have the same characteristic impedance, that is, 75 ohms. They differ only in the amount of loss. RG-59 has a greater attenuation than RG-6. We all know that attenuation in coaxial cables increases with frequency, and so the same for RG-59 used in satellite TV system.

Hope this helps you to decide.
