Good day folks
who can direct me to applicable source or guideline...

I need to select pressure safety relief valve for high temperature hot water system (not steam) operating 188 °F (87°C )

The vessel volume is 1,300 gallon ( 5,000 liter )
The hot water source is a boiler high temperature liquid circulating a through plate heat exchanger with capacity of 100,000 btu/hr (300 kW)
On what base is the selection of adequate safte valve carried?
is their selection charts / nomographs available for this purposes?
many thks

Firstly, What is the applicable Construction Code?

Examples;-
ASME I - Power (fossil fired) Boiler
ASME VIII - Unfired (process) Vessel

I suspect, from your brief description, you may have a heating boiler acc. to ASME IV - Appendix 4A of this specification provides details of how to determine the size of pressure relief valve required from capacity criteria in BTU/h etc.

It is very impotant you establish what design code applies.

Note also there is a separate forum for safety relief valves, buts its OK to continue here.

*** Per ISO-4126, the generic term
'Safety Valve' is used regardless of application or design ***

*** 'Pressure-relief Valve' is the equivalent ASME/API term ***
