I am working on developing an excel spreadsheet for saddles but kind of stuck at the whether to calculate the stresses normally called as Ring compression over saddles at the bottom which is

S5 = -KQr/t(b+1.56(Rt)1/2} as per Megyesy

The question is do I need to calculate the above stresses if I use a stiffening ring over the saddle or just consider the stresses at the ring and shell as per
S6a = -K1Qr/A-K2QrRc/I
S6b =-K1Qr/A-K2QrRd/I

Thanks
