Hello! I am interested in finding out what is the maximum resolution you can get out of a frame grab, i.e. a still picture produced from a Super VHS tape.

All the grab cards I have seen so far have a resolution in the order 720 x 576 (for PAL).

As I belive the data stored on the S-VHS are analog, is it possible to "get more resolution out" from the tape by use of some image processing method??

re your question on frame grab resolution yes much higher is possible, determined by video format used, 1/60s (60Hz) 640x480, 1/50s (50Hz) for 768x576, for 30 fps for 1024 x 1024 and up to 360 fps or more with partial scan mode. note: maximum allowed line frequency is 3.35 KHz).

If you check around (go to Agile) you will find some awesome solutions that can indeed process up the digitizerd signal.
