New Roof Top Unit load on an existing roof would be considered dead load, right?
 
Yes.

But the snow on top of the RTU, and the drifted snow around the RTU, would be live load.

Do you interpret ASCE7 section 7.8 to say that for most mechanical units (less than 15' long), drift can be ignored?
