RS232 Cable Problems

For people who are using RS232 for Data transfer

Please stick to pin configuration when attaching the cable. 90% of the time, LSK error or DR signal off error comes due to improper soldering or wrong pin configuration.

25 pin on machine side and 9 pin on PC side.

I've attached the pin configuration for reference.

If data transfer is not occurring(LSK error)

1. Settings might be a problem: Check the software settings, Baud Rate Stop Bits, etc. It should match the machine parameters
2. Rs232 cable might be a problem: Always stick to pin configuration and check the cable for continuity.
3. Port problem on the machine side or PC side.: This happens very rarely but cannot be ruled out.

Also try using a USB to RS232 converter for better reliability.

USB to RS232 converters are fussy, look for converters that use the prolific chipset

IR, I initially had the same question... my guess is he was running into issues with the comms to his laser.

@IRStuff many old laser machines use rs232 comm ports.

the older bystronics used 2 com ports. One for machine/human interface and the other for moving job data
