I am doing a R&D test on a rotor I need to spin at 5000 rpm. Currently I have a 2.2Kw 3ph motor which is maxing out at 1000 rpm. There is a 4.5:1 step up belt transmission. Given that I am mostly working against air friction on the rotor, how could I calculate power requirements to drive rotor at 5000 rpm?
