Does IBC 2012 require anchorage of roof top equipment such as duct support stands to roof?

I don't think there is a specific requirement for roof top equipment. It falls under "parts there of" such as Section 1609.1 that states "Buildings, structures and parts thereof shall be designed to withstand the minimum wind loads prescribed herein." There is similar wording in a couple places in chapter 16 and the seismic section specifically includes non structural components.

I have been down this road before while reviewing submittals for premanufactured duct support stands with big feet. They are marketed as stands that do not require penetrations in the roofing. However, the project specifications required anchors for the duct supports.

ASCE 7 gives specific load requirements for wind and seismic anchorage. ASCE 7 is referenced by IBC.
