I am designing a cribbing layout for an existing roof where repairs are needed and I am worried about crushing the existing deck.

Due to the loads, I have 6x6 timbers at 2'-0" OC with 3/4" plywood on top of 1.5B, 22Ga Deck. How do I check the "crushing" capacity of the roof deck?

Thanks

Without doing a sophisticated analysis, the deck is rated for a certain live load depending on the gage, section shape, and span of the decking. If you do not exceed that live load capacity, you should be OK.

Otherwise, if you know the manufacturer of the deck, you might want to go to their technical experts and ask the question for their specific product.

Go here: Canam Deck

Scroll down to the deck area and there are two pdf downloads called "Avoid the Crunch".
These are tables of metal deck capacity against crushing under concentrated loads. Might be applicable to your situation.

You can also check AISI Specifications for design of cold-formed steel. The section on web crippling may be helpful.

Much easier to check with the manufacturer than to try to do a web crippling analysis. They have tables for this.
