I have tried searching for this topic and had no results. So I will pose the question instead.

I need to roll back our version of Solidworks from 2005 SP 3 to 2005 SP 1.1 on our test machine. How can I do this?

To my knowledge you would have to reload SP0 then update to SP1.1.

I just went from 2005 sp1.1 to 2005 sp3. It seems like on one of the sp3 install screens you had a choice of rolling back to a previous version. You might try initiating the sp3 install and see if that option appears.

To make sure that ALL changes are caught, the safest way would be to do a complete & clean uninstall & reinstall of SW05.

We just did this here on two machines after problems with SP3.0. Just run the SP manager file and there is an option to roll back to the previous SP. So far, we have not had any problems since rolling back.

SolidWorks 2005 SP01.1
Intel Xeon 2.8GHz 2GB Ram
NVIDIA Quadro FX700 128MB

Just rerun the SP you just installed and it will give the option to rollback.

I personally don't trust it, so I prefer CBL's way. If you know what you are doing, a clean reinstall or just a reinstall will not take that long and will probably be as fast, if not faster then a Rollback.

Thanks to all of you for your quick responses.

I will take the uninstall and reinstall route just to be on the safe side. I want to make sure that I get a clean install since I will be testing it along with Smarteam. The version of Smarteam that we want to upgrade to does not get along with anything after SP1.1.

Thanks again.

I can talk by experience.

Rolling back a SP never worked for me. It can be a nightmare! Last time I've done it, I loose 2 days trying to recover the SW installation.

It reached a phase that would not possible to uninstall, it didn't accept a new installation and the SP information was all mixed up.

Only after deep registry manipulation (and fingers crossed) I was able to make a fresh install.

Never again!

So, my advice is to uninstall SW and reinstall with the required SP. It will be faster than hours of installation recovery.

Regards

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Solidworks 2005 without any trouble. The only problem now is SP1.1 is no longer on the Solidworks website. Does anyone know what happened to it? Unfortunately ours got deleted. Not that at matters anymore at this point for what I want to do. We are so far behind due to Smarteam's inability to keep up with Solidworks. That I will be glad just to move up 2005. Oh well......sorry guys just venting a little bit.
