Roll-Your-Own Protocol for RLC Paradigm

I am writing my own serial (ASCII) protocol for the Red Lion Paradigm series of operator interface products, using their "Roll your own" protocol driver capability.

If anyone has done this before, I would appreciate seeing an example.
