RISA Vs. Revit Section Shapes

Learning the RISA-Revit link, and I notice that if Revit does not have an equivalent RISA section for a beam/column component (say Aluminum RT8x8x1/4) then it can't replace the component to be changed.

Is there a way to export the RISA section library to load into a Revit component family?

There should be a mapping file (and Excel / XML format) that maps RISA shapes to Revit shapes. The most current version of the RISA/Revit link should have a section in that mapping file for Aluminum. I just looked it up in the reference manual for the link. But, if you are using an older version then it may not exist.

I don't have Revit on my home computer, so I cannot actually test that the aluminum portion of the mapping works. If it's not working for you, then you should write into RISA support. Most of the same people should be there. Though my guess is that no one will be in their office again until at least Tuesday.

Hey Josh. Thanks for your reply. Working with latest RISA and 2018 REVIT. I did find the mapping xml file and was also able to find pre-made aluminum REVIT families in the RISA program files. I had no problems getting them to work too.

In terms of quickly creating additional families of framing members (cold formed, etc.), it is likely more of an issue with me learning REVIT better.
