Hello,
I'm looking for some help:
I would like to find a solution for a thick walled ring with internal pressure loading. It is a similar problem to a thick walled pressure vessel except the cross section is trapezoidal rather than rectangular.
There is plenty of theory for curved beams of abitary cross-section. Roark's formulas for stress and strain has a ring with any number of discrete radial forces but I haven't located an example for internal pressure (other than using many radial forces).
Is there a classical solution to this problem that anyone knows of or a relevant text?
Can a tightly curved beam with appropriate cyclic symmetry boundary conditions be used?
