For a 56in OD pressure vessel, of 90 psi(g) as design pressure, we need to design a girth flange as cheap as possible, but of course in fully compliance with the Code.
Besided a fully forged SA105 ring, we are analyzing several alternatives for the ring flange fabrication, about which I need to check if any of them is not acceptable for the Code
a)Ring directly flame cut from plate + machining & drilling
b)Ring flame cut from plate but in three sectors + welding + some NDT + PWHT + mach.& drill.
c)Rolling a strip, flame cut from plate (in the same rolling direction as the plate) + welding + some NDT + PWHT + mach.& drill.

Independently of economicall and practical analisys, do you see any Code mismatch with a), b) and c) of above?
Thanks in advance
JJ

Be sure to follow the requirements of App. 2-2(d)for fabbed plate flanges if it is with hubs. [i.e., rolled up, plate surfaces parallel to cL axis, etc. ]

Pls Arto, let me know what a "fabbed" plate flange is.
Thanks

Fabricated, i.e., rolled up & welded
