Revit problem - Shared Paremeter

I am creating a composite timber structure using Revit Structure and I want to share the thickness of a sheet of ply with three independant families. I am able to include the shared parameter with each family but I have to set the value in each model.

Is there a way of setting the thickness of the ply as a default. I change the thickness of the ply in one file (preferably in the project drawing) and the thickness changes in the other models?
