My yearly review is coming up. I have several things that's been on my mind for awhile. I like the company and I can tolerate the people. I don't really like the type of job that I'm doing. I was hired to design manufacturing tooling/fixture and train operator to use it, etc. For the past 2 years, I've been more like Manufacturing Engineer and technician who responsible for the result but have no control whatsoever to fix the problem. I want to get back in design world but don't know how to ask diplomtically, plus I need more money to afford a house. 8 Years w/BS in Mechanical Engineering and make $54000/year.

Thanks

hmm.. I helped a new-grad with a BS in mech. engr. move into an apartment last weekend... he told me that his offer (first job out of school) was $58000 - houston area. I'd think about polishing that resume. There are lots of manufacturing-related and design jobs available in the midwest currently (check monster.com).
